How-To Guide
Step 1 • Open the Google Home app
Step 2 • Tap the + icon (top left), then, select Set up device > Set up new devices.
Step 3 • Choose your Home:
Select the Home where you want to add your lights and tap Next.
Step 4 • Wait for Scanning
The app will search for nearby Essentials lights ready to connect.
Step 5 • Tap Set up smart lights
Step 6 • Select the Bulb or Lightstrip you want to set up. The light will blink when selected.
Step 7 • Choose a Room
Pick the Room your light is in, or tap Add Custom Room to type in a new name.
Step 8 • Name your light
Choose a voice-friendly name like "reading light" or "overhead light".
💡 For best results, avoid including the room name. Google already uses that for grouping.
Step 9 • The app will indicate that the setup is in progress. Your light may blink a few times [this is normal]. Once it finished it will notes that Light is Ready - Tap Done.
The setup is now complete! You can now control your light with Google Assistant.

Troubleshooting Tips ⚙️
If pairing fails at step 9 or at the end: Power cycle the light, give it about 30 secs (Bulbs can be unscrewing, unplugged
or switched off if in a fixture, Lightstrip can be unplugged). Then press Try again in the Google Home app.
