How-To | Pairing > Desktop App Pairing [First Time]

🆘 FIRST TIME PAIRING WITH THE DESKTOP APP

✅ Minimum technical requirements: Windows 10 or macOS 12.
✅ To use an Essentials product with the Desktop App, you'll need a Thread Border Router

Step 1 • Download the Desktop App

• First, download the app for your computer by selecting the version for your operating system here: Nanoleaf Desktop App.

Step 2 • Power On Your Nanoleaf Device

• Make sure your Nanoleaf is turned on.

• The LEDs on the controller or control square should be solid white, indicating it's ready to pair.

💡Your computer must be connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.

Step 3 • Open the Desktop App

• In the app, click the gear [⚙️] icon (bottom left of the screen),

• Then the green plus button [+] (bottom right).

Step 4 • Add Your Nanoleaf Device

• From the drop-down menu, select Add Devices,

• Then, click Add Device. Your Nanoleaf should appear as an available device.

Step 5 - Pair Your Nanoleaf Device

•  Select your Nanoleaf device,

•  Then click Add (bottom right).

•  The panels will flash green, and the LED will turn off, indicating a successful pairing.

•  When prompted, enter the pairing code found on your Nanoleaf controller (on the back).

(Optional) - Assign to a Room  |  You can now add the device to a specific room or leave it unassigned.

You're all set! Your Nanoleaf is now paired and ready to use.
