STEP 1 ⨠
Download or Update the Nanoleaf App
💡The official Nanoleaf App is available as a free download in the Google Play Store. Make sure you have the latest version. 🔗App Download
📲 Your mobile device must also be on 2.4GHz during setup and Bluetooth must be turned ON.
STEP 2 ⨠
Pair Your Device
✅ Open the App;
✅ On the Dashboard, tap the pencil ✏️ icon in the top right corner;
✅ Tap Add Device +;
✅ The app will automatically open up the pairing window. Follow the instructions on the screen to either:
Option A: Scan the QR code.
Option B: Manually Enter in the 8-digit pairing code (11-digits pairing code on Matter devices) found on the back of your Controller/Bulb base or Quick Start Guide/Welcome Card.
Option C (Not for Blocks or Expo Display Case): Use NFC Tap, by holding the top of your mobile device over the buttons of your Controller/Bulb base.
In some cases, you may be required to Provide Permission. Once the Nanoleaf App pairs with the device, it will ask for permission to access your network to check for available Wifi networks. Once located, a prompt will request that you enter your password for the preferred Wifi network.
Optional: Naming & Room Assignment: Name your device and assign it to a room.
🎉 PAIRING COMPLETE | Once pairing is complete, most Nanoleaf panels should flash green or illuminate in some way and then, they're ready to go on the Nanoleaf App!

⚡Nanoleaf 4D | Special Note Following pairing, 4D (or similar products) require additional setup and calibration within the App. 🔗How-To | Installation Tips > 4D |
[OPTIONAL] STEP 3 | Connect Using Matter/Connecting to a Smart Home Ecosystem
Smart Home Ecosystem Setup: If a smart home hub and/or a compatible Thread Border Router are present in the home and detected by the Nanoleaf app, you will be provided with the option to connect your light to Matter.
Otherwise, you will be taken back to the Dashboard.
If you’re pairing with a smart home ecosystem like Google Home, make sure your devices are up to date.
Nanoleaf devices use Wifi, Matter Thread, or Matter Wifi to connect your device(s)/lights using specific connection protocols.
An image, similar to the one on the left, will pop up to prompt you.
You can also skip this and connect at another time.
