[OPTIONAL] STEP 3 | Connect Using Matter/Connecting to a Smart Home Ecosystem
Smart Home Ecosystem Setup
To connect your Nanoleaf lights with smart home platforms like Apple Home or Google Home, you’ll need to first pair your device using the Nanoleaf Mobile App. This ensures your firmware and integration protocols are fully up to date for a smooth connection.
Download the latest version of the app based on your device:
Nanoleaf devices use Wifi, Matter Thread, or Matter Wifi to connect your device(s)/lights using specific connection protocols. The Desktop App uses Thread, so a Thread Border Router is required (like a HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K, or select eero routers).
If you’re using the Desktop App without a Thread Border Router, or your device hasn’t been paired through the mobile app yet, you may see errors like so:
🚨 Here’s a “How-To” on how to fix that: 🔗In the App > Error - Desktop> Not on Thread Message
