About Philips Hue Integration with Nanoleaf Shapes
Nanoleaf Shapes panels can now be integrated into the Philips Hue ecosystem using the Philips Hue Wall Light Module. This integration gives you more flexibility to control your Nanoleaf lighting through Philips Hue while maintaining access to your existing Nanoleaf Shapes Controller, or using the Hue module as your controller.
What Is the Philips Hue Wall Light Module?
The Philips Hue Wall Light Module (Works with Nanoleaf) is a controller that connects compatible Nanoleaf Shapes panels to the Philips Hue ecosystem.
Once connected, you can control your Shapes panels through the Philips Hue app and incorporate them into your existing Hue lighting setup.
Unlike the standard Nanoleaf Shapes Controller, the Philips Hue module does not have physical control buttons. Lighting adjustments and settings are managed through the Philips Hue ecosystem.
Controller Options
Depending on your setup, you can use your Nanoleaf Shapes panels in two configurations:
OPTION 1
Nanoleaf Shapes Controller + Philips Hue Module
Keep your existing Nanoleaf Shapes Controller while integrating your panels into the Philips Hue ecosystem.
This configuration is intended to provide access to both ecosystems. Available features and control behavior may differ between the Nanoleaf and Philips Hue apps.
OPTION 2
Philips Hue Module Only
Use the Philips Hue module to control your Nanoleaf Shapes panels exclusively through the Philips Hue ecosystem.
With this configuration, your panels use Philips Hue controls and features rather than those provided by the Nanoleaf Shapes Controller.
Compatibility & Requirements
To integrate Nanoleaf Shapes with Philips Hue, you will need:
- Compatible Nanoleaf Shapes panels (Hexagons or Triangles).
- A Philips Hue Wall Light Module (Works with Nanoleaf).
- The Philips Hue app.
- A compatible Philips Hue Bridge for bridge-based setup and control.
Both the Philips Hue Bridge and Bridge Pro are supported. Certain advanced Philips Hue features may require a specific bridge model or additional accessories.
Note: In the Philips Hue app, Nanoleaf Shapes panels are identified as a Gradient Lightstrip. This is expected behaviour.
Integration Features
Once your Nanoleaf Shapes panels are connected to Philips Hue, you can enjoy features such as:
- Lighting Controls: Turn your panels on or off, adjust brightness, and change colours and white lighting.
- Scenes: Choose from Philips Hue lighting scenes to customize your space.

Important Things to Know:
- Feature Availability: Some Nanoleaf-specific features, such as Touch Gestures, Nanoleaf Screen Mirror, and Nanoleaf OpenAPI, are available through the Nanoleaf Shapes Controller but not through the Philips Hue module.
- Connectivity: The Nanoleaf Shapes Controller uses Wi-Fi, while the Philips Hue module uses Zigbee for bridge-based connectivity.
- Firmware Updates: Firmware updates are managed through the corresponding ecosystem, using the Nanoleaf app for the Nanoleaf Controller and the Philips Hue app/Bridge for the Hue module.
- Physical Controls: The Philips Hue module has no physical buttons, including a reset button.
