đź””WHY DOES MY SKIN FEEL BURNED, RED, OR IRRITATED AFTER USING A LIGHT THERAPY DEVICE?
| Redness or a burning sensation after light therapy is usually caused by sensitized skin or recent use of exfoliating or active skincare products. Light therapy devices do not emit UV light and do not cause sunburn. Symptoms are typically temporary and related to skin sensitivity rather than device defects. |
WHY THIS CAN HAPPEN
Our light therapy devices do not emit UV light and do not cause sunburn. However, some users may experience redness, warmth, stinging, or a “burning” sensation if their skin is already sensitized.
This reaction is usually caused by over-stimulation of sensitive skin, not a device malfunction.
Common reasons skin may react:
Skin is more likely to feel irritated during or after a session if:
âś… Retinoids or retinol were used recently
âś… AHAs or BHAs (exfoliating acids) were applied before use
âś… Brightening, resurfacing, or exfoliating products were used
âś… Skin is already inflamed, peeling, or compromised
✅ Session intensity or duration was too high for the skin’s current condition
These products and conditions can thin the skin barrier and increase sensitivity to light and heat.

REDNESS, IRRITATION, OR BURNS: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
Redness, irritation, flushing, or warmth = typically a temporary skin reaction
UV burns = caused by ultraviolet light (not emitted by our devices)
If discomfort occurs, it does not automatically indicate a defect.
What to do if irritation occurs
• Stop using the device and allow skin to fully recover
• Resume only once skin feels calm and normal
• Restart at the lowest intensity and shortest session time
• Use the device on clean, dry skin with no active products applied beforehand
If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
How to reduce the risk next time
Before each session:
• Ensure skin is clean and product-free
• Avoid active or exfoliating skincare near treatment time
• Do not use on irritated, broken, or inflamed skin
• Start low and increase gradually as tolerated
