ℹ️ WHY IS THERE A MARK ON THE WALL WHERE THE CONTROLLER, PANEL, OR LINKER WAS PLACED?
Faint, sometimes dark, marks appearing on the wall behind the controller, panel(s) or linker(s) after long-term use are typically a result of dust buildup caused by static electricity or pressure from the components resting against the wall over time. These are not burn marks.
Is this dangerous?
Nope! These marks are not caused by overheating or burning. All Nanoleaf products undergo rigorous safety testing and are designed to run safely for extended periods.
The surface behind the controller or linkers may simply gather dust differently due to the shape, adhesive, or static charge.
How can I clean it?
Most marks can be gently cleaned with a soft sponge or cloth, a bit of water, and mild soap. We recommend:
✅ Testing a small area first
✅ Placing a towel underneath to catch any drips
✅ Avoiding abrasive cleaners that may damage paint
💪 Pro Tip | If you are planning to move or rearrange your setup and are concerned about wall marks, consider
using a removable adhesive strip (i.e. Command strips for picture hanging, that have a bit of 'cushion') or leaving a
tiny gap between the unit and the wall to improve airflow and reduce pressure contact using the wall mounted plates.
⚠️It’s normal for our products to feel slightly warm while in use. However, if any part feels unusually hot to the touch, unplug the device right away and reach out to us, we’re here to help!
Noticing a Bit of Yellowing?
Over time, some older products (especially those made with plastic components and those that generate heat) might develop a slight yellow tint. This is totally normal and purely cosmetic. Our Original Light Panels, for example, have been around for 7–8 years and may show their age a little, but they still shine bright and work just as well!
