ℹ️WHAT DO THE LED LIGHT INDICATORS MEAN ON SELECT CONTROLLERS?
The LED lights on your Nanoleaf devices give helpful clues about their connection status or activity. This guide breaks down what those lights mean for each product, so you can quickly check what is going on and what to do next.
LED Behavior Meaning: Shapes, Elements, & Lines
On Shapes & Elements, the LED on the power button shows connection status. On Lines, the LED above the reset button shows Wifi connection status.
Steady On: Not connected to Wifi and searching for a network.
Off: Successfully connected to Wifi.
Flashing (every 1 second): Timed out, not connected within 30 minutes of power on.
⚠️FIX | Unplug and plug back in.
Flashing (every 4 seconds): Was connected but cannot reconnect.
⚠️FIX | Perform a soft reset, delete from the app, and set up again (i.e. Pair again)
LED Behavior Meaning: Canvas
Each button on the Canvas Control Square is backlit with an LED.
Power LED On (White): Not connected to Wifi yet
Power LED Off (White): Successfully connected to Wifi.
Power LED Flashing (4 seconds on, 4 seconds off): Cannot connect to Wifi
⚠️FIX | Perform a soft reset, delete from the app, and set up again (i.e. Pair again)
Scroll Left/Right: Firmware is downloading or booting.
Power LED Flashing Green (0.1 seconds): Nanoleaf Remote paired successfully.
Rhythm LED On: Rhythm is active and listening.
Power LED Magenta (1 second): Message received from Nanoleaf Remote.
LED Behavior Meaning: Light Panels (Aurora)
The LED beside the two buttons on the Controller shows the Wifi connection status.
Steady On: Not connected to Wifi yet and searching.
Off: Connected to Wifi (panels will also briefly flash green).
Flashing (every 1 second): Timed out, not connected within 30 minutes of power on.

The LED on the Rhythm module provides visual status updates.
Blue (Flashing): Booting up. Will turn off when ready.
Blue (Solid): Active and listening (only during Rhythm scenes).
Green: Updating firmware. Do not disconnect. Will begin flashing blue after completion.
Red: Error occurred. Please contact Nanoleaf Support.
🔒 Your privacy matters: The Rhythm microphone is only active during Rhythm Scenes, and all audio is processed
locally on device. Nothing is recorded or sent to Nanoleaf or any third-party servers.
