INSTRUCTIONS FOR MATTER ENABLED DEVICES
💡Ensure that your Matter device is installed within 30 feet (9 meters) of a compatible Matter controller for
optimal performance. If you're connecting Thread-based Matter devices, double-check that the Thread network is
enabled on your TBR and IPv6 is activated in your router's settings. This setup ensures a smooth
connection and proper functionality of your Matter devices.
Setting Up (iOS 🍏or Android 🤖)
Step 1 • Open the Alexa app.
Step 2 • Open Device.
Step 3 • Select the ➕ plus icon.
Step 4 • Select Add Device.
Step 5 •Select Other from the bottom of the list.
Step 6 • Select Matter.
Step 7 • To confirm that you have a Matter device, select Yes.
Step 8 • With your phone, scan your Matter QR Code (or manually enter the numeric code) and follow the on-screen instructions.
⨠ Scanning the QR code with your phone requires camera permissions. If you can’t scan your QR code, enter the code manually. You can find the code on the device’s Quick Start Guide or on the device itself.
⨠ If you can’t connect your Thread-based Matter device to your Thread network, try setting up your Matter device with another Smart Home System first, then connect your Matter device with Alexa.
Compatible Echo devices can act as Thread border routers. These Echo devices automatically create a Thread
network and store Thread network credentials on your Amazon account. When you connect a Thread Matter device
with your Echo, the device retrieves the Thread network credentials for easy setup.
