Thanks for reaching out. A slight delay or occasional color mismatch with Screen Mirror can happen depending on your setup, and there are a few things worth checking. First, make sure you are running the latest version of the Nanoleaf Desktop App and that your lights and app are on the same network. If you are using a VPN, screen recording software, or other applications that heavily use system resources, try disabling them temporarily to see if performance improves.

You can also try the Screen Mirror settings in the Desktop App, such as adjusting the color sampling area, synchronization options, or effect mode. If you are using multiple monitors, test with a single display enabled to see whether that affects the responsiveness. For the best experience, a stable network connection and sufficient system resources are important, especially when running games or other demanding applications.

That said, Screen Mirror performance would not typically affect the speed of downloading Minecraft mod files, as downloads are generally dependent on your internet connection and the source hosting the files rather than the lighting integration itself.

If the issue continues, please submit a support ticket and include your computer's operating system, Nanoleaf Desktop App version, and a short video showing the delay or color mismatch so the team can investigate further. Looking forward to hearing from you so we can get this sorted out.

It’s a pretty common Screen Mirror issue

Usually it’s not Nanoleaf itself, but system lag — GPU load, Wi-Fi instability, or multi-monitor setup causing color delay or mismatch.

    Fixes to try:
close heavy apps, use one monitor, and check your network connection.

And no, Minecraft mods downloads are almost certainly not the real cause

I've run into something similar before. A couple of things that helped were recalibrating the Screen Mirror capture area, updating both the Nanoleaf firmware and desktop app, and making sure HDR or any color-enhancement settings were disabled on the monitor. If there's a delay, check whether your PC and Nanoleaf controller are on the same Wi-Fi network (preferably 5 GHz) and close any apps that might be using a lot of CPU or GPU resources. Also, downloading Minecraft mods shouldn't affect Screen Mirror unless the download is putting heavy load on your system or network. Hopefully one of these fixes gets everything syncing properly! luckycapone

    DerekdRussellq:
To clarify: Nanoleaf Wi‑Fi devices require a 2.4 GHz network for pairing and network access; 5 GHz is not supported. (https://support.nanoleaf.me/hc/en-us/articles/32974287187860-E-L-2-4GHz-vs-5GHz)

Please check your Wi‑Fi quality in your router interface first, if your router supports that kind of analysis; a FRITZ!Box does. Check which channel your 2.4 GHz network is using and how many nearby Wi‑Fi networks are on the same or overlapping channels. That would be the first thing I’d verify if this is a Wi‑Fi-related issue. Next check the quality between device and router (and/or repeater). I’m not having any issues with the mirrored colors at all (my 4D is connected to Apple Home). Even with HDR content, the mirroring looks even better, I absolutely love it!

Before drawing any conclusions, the relevant part is your setup, because without that context any assessment would be speculative at best. Also, how exactly did you onboard your 4D: through the Nanoleaf app and Apple Home, through the Nanoleaf app only, or via the Windows or macOS desktop app?

Those details do matter, because they can lead to different behavior, setup paths, and limitations depending on how the device was paired and which platform is controlling it.
